A Tribute to Kenneth C. Kinghorn

         My mother remembers him as the young adjunct music instructor at Asbury College in the early 1960s who taught band istruments to "the Kinghorn Four and several more" while getting his B.D. at the school across the street.  My father, a 1970 graduate of Asbury Theological Seminary, describes him as the genial young professor who gave whirlwind lectures on early church history in an irenic style (and who, my father still claims, said the word "irenic" began with Irenaus).  My grandfather, Frank Bateman Stanger, who retired from the seminary presidency in 1982, praised him as a rising scholar,…
